Paul's world tour:
Ghana
Last week, we welcomed our long-standing Hanseatic trading partner and one of our tuna suppliers from Ghana.

In their luggage they had information on the current situation in the various regions. So today we are not just travelling to Ghana, but around the world:

In the Western Central Pacific (WCPO) In Taiwan, China and the Philippines, catch volumes have been low for weeks, but the volumes for yellowfin tuna are satisfactory. Prices at the Bangkok trading centre were USD 1,550 per tonne last week, with MSC-certified raw material at USD 1,650 per tonne.
Although catches in the East Pacific (EPO) In the region of Peru, prices are also high - at USD 1,650 per tonne.
In the Indian and Atlantic Ocean The prices have been slightly lower so far, at USD 1,450 per tonne. However, experts expect the price of tuna from the Atlantic to rise. The reason: the upcoming fishing ban (FAD-ban) from 17 March to 30 April 2025.

So when is the best time to buy tuna? What are the prospects? And how can we still make good offers despite rising raw material prices? We answer these and other questions in our regular Food News.
