Citrus fruits
Lower harvest

In our Food News in November 2025, we already reported on a poorer harvest of grapefruits and oranges in Turkey - as well as rising prices. Now we have more precise figures for this year's season: For grapefruits, the harvest volume is 25 per cent lower than last year. For oranges, the decline is 10 per cent. The prices of raw materials have therefore risen by between 10 per cent (for oranges) and 12 per cent (for grapefruit). In addition, canned goods in Turkey are purchased in US dollars and have also risen in price due to the exchange rate (approx. 8 per cent). Only inflation in Turkey (31 per cent) and the depreciation of the Turkish lira against the euro (34 per cent) could compensate somewhat for the price increases for citrus fruit from Turkey.
