The pineapple season in Thailand is in full swing – but the summer harvest is proving to be small. Prices climbed in May from THB 6.20-6.35 to THB 7.50-8.20 per kilogram of raw product. In June, supply remained tight, causing costs to rise to THB 8.30-9.20 per kilogram of raw product (as of 11 June 2026). Furthermore, due to dry weather conditions, the fruit is predominantly small. This particularly restricts the production of pineapple slices. Production for many processors has already been reduced to three to four days per week since the third week of June. Packers expect production to end from mid/late July.

The outlook for the winter harvest also remains tense. The Thai Food Processors Association (TFPA) expects a delayed season start at the end of October and a significantly reduced supply. The ongoing effects of the El Niño weather phenomenon are the cause. With an expected harvest volume of 70,000 tonnes per month between October and December, the total volume for 2026 would be less than one million tonnes. Prices could therefore reach the levels seen in 2024 again by the end of the year, when up to 12 THB were paid for a kilogram of pineapple.
